Antibiotic Residues findings in Chicken Meat


Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development held an online conference with 63 provinces and cities across the country last Friday, to discuss better control measures on food safety and hygiene. The ministry said that in the past seven months it had helped to draw various policies to improve quality control of agricultural produce. Food safety inspection programs uncovered several violations in food safety procedures. According to Nguyen Nhu Tiep, Head of the National Agro-Forestry-Fisheries Quality Assurance Department, the most alarming issue in the past months was the safety of cattle and poultry meat.

Three out of 39 samples of chicken meat were found contaminated with Campylobacter spp; two out of 40 samples contained Chloramphenicol; four out of 40 samples contained Furazolidon; and four out of 40 samples contained Tetracyline.
